HKD SV10 Towers help Peek N Peak open in Record Time at temperatures from 20 Deg F to 28 Deg F!
Peek’n Peak Resort and Conference Center opened for its 43rd winter season on Thursday, December 7, at 9:30 a.m. with 4 trails, 2 lifts and a 12 to 18 inch base with a packed powder surface. They anticipate an additional 7 trails and 1 lift by this weekend.
Peek’n Peak’s new $2 million snowmaking system expansion using over 300 HKD SV10 Tower Snowguns, has enabled the resort to produce four times the amount of snow as before, so the terrain parks and tubing areas will also be open very soon. Snowmaking began on 12/01/06.
"Visitors will find that this tower gun technology can pump out 2,300 gallons of water/minute. In a 24 hour time period we have covered 10 acres with 12-18 inches of snow. In the last 3 days we have utilized 6.2 million gallons of water and 3 million in the last 24 hours. This far surpasses anyone in this region!" said Chip Day, Vice President, Brand Management.
As the long-term forecast calls for cold temperatures and additional snowfall, the conditions are ideal for snowmaking. Additional trails will open as weather permits.
